STRIKEMOX™ 500

Amoxycillin 500mg is the standard adult dose of the most widely prescribed aminopenicillin antibiotic globally. It exerts bactericidal activity by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) on the bacterial cell membrane, inhibiting peptidoglycan cross-linking and causing osmotic lysis of susceptible organisms.

At 500mg per capsule, this formulation achieves plasma concentrations that exceed the MIC for susceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Haemophilus influenzae (non-beta-lactamase-producing), E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, and Enterococcus faecalis for the full interdose interval when dosed three times daily. It is the backbone first-line antibiotic in WHO Essential Medicines guidelines for community-acquired respiratory, ENT, dental, and urinary tract infections.

Standard adult-dose antibiotic for community-acquired infections across ENT, respiratory, dental, and urinary indications. Used as empirical first-line therapy where beta-lactamase-producing organisms are not the primary concern. Key indications: pharyngitis, tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media, community-acquired pneumonia (mild), dental abscesses, uncomplicated UTIs, and Helicobacter pylori eradication (as part of triple therapy).
