Cefixime 200mg + Clavulanic Acid 31.25mg
Cefixime is a third-generation oral cephalosporin that binds penicillin-binding proteins and halts bacterial cell-wall synthesis, giving broad gram-negative cover. Clavulanic acid contributes no meaningful antibacterial activity of its own; it irreversibly inhibits bacterial beta-lactamase enzymes, protecting cefixime from enzymatic degradation.
In the dry-syrup presentation, both components are supplied as a powder for reconstitution with water. This protects the moisture-sensitive clavulanate during storage while delivering a palatable oral suspension once reconstituted — the practical route for children and for adults unable to swallow tablets.
FAMEFIX™ CV Dry Syrup is indicated where beta-lactamase-producing organisms are suspected and an oral suspension is required.
ENT Infections: Recurrent or severe acute otitis media, complicated sinusitis and tonsillitis unresponsive to standard cephalosporins.
Respiratory Tract Infections: Community-acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbations of bronchitis and pharyngitis caused by beta-lactamase-producing pathogens.
Urinary Tract Infections: Uncomplicated and complicated UTI where resistant gram-negative organisms are suspected.
Patients Unable to Swallow Tablets: Paediatric patients and adults requiring liquid dosing.
Dosage and administration should be as prescribed by a qualified doctor or medical professional. Do not self-medicate. Always follow your physician's instructions regarding dose, frequency and duration of treatment.
Beta-lactamase production is now widespread among common community pathogens, and plain cefixime increasingly fails against these organisms. Prescribers treating children — or any patient who cannot manage tablets — have historically had to choose between an appropriate spectrum and an appropriate dosage form.
FAMEFIX™ CV Dry Syrup closes that gap, pairing the CV combination with a paediatric-friendly suspension and giving the FAMEFIX™ range full coverage from drops through suspensions to dispersible and film-coated tablets.
