Mechanism of Action

Cefixime 100mg dispersible tablet — same mechanism as all FAMEFIX™ products (third-generation cephalosporin, PBP binding, cell wall synthesis inhibition). The dispersible tablet format for the 100mg dose provides an alternative to syrups for children above 5 years who can chew or disperse tablets, and for patients requiring accurate sub-200mg dosing without the refrigeration requirements of reconstituted suspensions.

Indications

Otitis media, pharyngitis, sinusitis, UTI, gonorrhoea, enteric fever and respiratory infections in older children and adolescents. The dispersible format makes it particularly useful for children 5–12 years transitioning from liquid to solid formulations, and for adult patients requiring doses between 100–200mg.
