Mechanism of Action
Atorvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis, reducing LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while raising HDL. It also has pleiotropic anti-inflammatory effects on arterial walls.
