Zinc Acetate Dihydrate (Elemental Zinc 20mg per 5mL)
Zinc Acetate Dihydrate provides elemental zinc 20mg per 5mL — the WHO-recommended therapeutic dose of zinc for paediatric diarrhoea. Zinc acetate is the most bioavailable oral zinc salt — the acetate anion minimises luminal zinc precipitation and maximises intestinal zinc absorption. Elemental zinc acts as a cofactor for over 300 enzymes, restores intestinal tight junction expression (reducing diarrhoeal permeability), enhances secretory IgA and T-cell responses, reduces intestinal hypersecretion via cAMP inhibition, and accelerates gut mucosal healing — directly shortening diarrhoea duration and preventing recurrence for 2–3 months post-supplementation.
Acute diarrhoea in children (WHO-recommended zinc 20mg/day for 10–14 days alongside ORS), zinc deficiency states (growth faltering, recurrent infections, poor wound healing), post-diarrhoeal prevention of recurrence, zinc supplementation in nutritional rehabilitation, and as a standalone zinc syrup when a combined formulation (like GUTSUIT ZN) is not required.
Dosage and administration should be as prescribed by a qualified doctor or medical professional. Do not self-medicate. Always follow your physician's instructions regarding dose, frequency and duration of treatment.
SECZINC provides the WHO-mandated zinc component of acute paediatric diarrhoea management as a standalone product — complementing ORABOON (ORS) and PEWCUT 4 (ondansetron) for the complete WHO-recommended acute gastroenteritis triple protocol. Having standalone zinc syrup enables flexible prescribing for patients already on a combined probiotic-zinc product or for whom the simplest possible zinc supplementation is preferred.
