Amoxycillin 400 mg + Clavulanic 57mg with Water
STRIKEMOX™ CV DS is the double-strength paediatric co-amoxiclav dry syrup, delivering twice the amoxycillin and clavulanate concentration per 5mL compared to the standard paediatric suspension. This higher-concentration formulation is designed for children requiring higher weight-based doses — either because of greater body weight, more severe infection, or pathogens requiring higher drug concentrations for reliable eradication.
Amoxycillin 400mg per 5mL ensures that weight-based dosing targets of 40–45 mg/kg/day can be achieved with smaller administration volumes. Both components are formulated as a dry powder for reconstitution with water, ensuring stability of the labile clavulanate component during storage while providing the convenience of a ready-to-use oral suspension after reconstitution.
The 7:1 amoxycillin-to-clavulanate ratio maintained in this formulation has been validated in clinical trials as delivering the optimal balance of efficacy and tolerability — too little clavulanate reduces beta-lactamase inhibitory efficacy; too much increases the incidence of diarrhoea.
STRIKEMOX™ CV DS is indicated for moderate-to-severe paediatric bacterial infections where higher amoxycillin-clavulanate doses are required.
High-Dose Acute Otitis Media: In children with severe or recurrent otitis media, or in regions with a high prevalence of penicillin-non-susceptible S. pneumoniae, where guidelines recommend high-dose amoxycillin-clavulanate (80–90 mg/kg/day).
Recurrent Sinusitis: Children with persistent or recurrent bacterial sinusitis where standard doses have proven insufficient.
Severe Community-Acquired Pneumonia: Outpatient management of moderate-severe pneumonia in older children where S. pneumoniae with reduced penicillin susceptibility is a concern.
Adolescents Approaching Adult Weight: Children above 12 years or above 40kg where the standard paediatric syrup would require impractically large volumes.
Dosage and administration should be as prescribed by a qualified doctor or medical professional. Do not self-medicate. Always follow your physician's instructions regarding dose, frequency and duration of treatment.
Rising rates of penicillin-non-susceptible Streptococcus pneumoniae require higher amoxycillin doses to overcome intermediate resistance. Without a double-strength formulation, achieving 80mg/kg/day in a 25kg child would require 10mL of standard-strength suspension per dose — an impractical volume. At DS concentration, the same dose requires only 5mL.
STRIKEMOX™ CV DS complements STRIKEMOX™ CV (standard strength) in the portfolio, covering the full spectrum of paediatric co-amoxiclav prescribing from standard doses through to high-dose therapy in older children. The complete range within a single brand strengthens prescriber loyalty and drives portfolio depth.
