Ofloxacin 50 mg + Metronidazole 120 mg + Simethicone 10 mg
Triple-component paediatric suspension targeting gastrointestinal infections. Ofloxacin (50mg/5mL) inhibits DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, covering aerobic gram-negative enteric pathogens including E. coli, Shigella, and Salmonella. Metronidazole (120mg/5mL) is a nitroimidazole that generates reactive nitrogen intermediates inside anaerobic and microaerophilic organisms, causing lethal DNA strand breaks — specifically targeting Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, Trichomonas, and anaerobic bacteria. Simethicone (10mg/5mL) is an anti-foaming/anti-flatulence agent that reduces gas-related bloating, cramping, and discomfort commonly associated with gastrointestinal infections.
Paediatric and adult gastrointestinal infections with mixed aerobic-anaerobic aetiology: acute gastroenteritis, amoebic dysentery, Giardiasis, Shigellosis, traveller's diarrhoea, and infective diarrhoea with bloating. The simethicone component addresses the symptomatic gas and bloating that accompanies many enteric infections, providing relief alongside antimicrobial treatment.
Dosage and administration should be as prescribed by a qualified doctor or medical professional. Do not self-medicate. Always follow your physician's instructions regarding dose, frequency and duration of treatment.
Acute gastroenteritis and infective diarrhoea with mixed pathogen involvement are among the most common reasons for paediatric consultation in India. A single suspension covering aerobic gram-negative organisms (ofloxacin), anaerobes and protozoa (metronidazole), and gas symptoms (simethicone) reduces the prescription burden to a single product and improves compliance versus multiple separate medicines.
