Key Benefits

01
Intravenous route — delivers reliable acid suppression when the oral route is unavailable
02
CYP2C19-independent — consistent effect across metaboliser phenotypes, including rapid metabolisers
03
Rapid onset — bypasses first-pass metabolism for prompt therapeutic concentrations
04
Seamless step-down — allows conversion to SOUNDRAB™ 20 tablets within the same brand once oral intake resumes
05
Single-vial presentation — convenient unit dosing for hospital and day-care settings

Mechanism of Action

Rabeprazole irreversibly inhibits the gastric H⁺/K⁺-ATPase proton pump, the final common step in gastric acid secretion. Its higher pKa allows faster activation than older proton pump inhibitors, and its largely non-enzymatic metabolism makes acid suppression less dependent on CYP2C19 metaboliser status.

Administered intravenously, rabeprazole bypasses first-pass metabolism and oral absorption entirely, achieving therapeutic plasma concentrations rapidly. This makes the injectable form the appropriate choice when the oral route is unavailable or when immediate, reliable acid suppression is clinically necessary.

Indications

SOUNDRAB™ 20 Injection is indicated where acid suppression is required and the oral route is unsuitable or inadequate.

Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding: As acid-suppressive therapy in the management of bleeding peptic ulcers.

Nil-By-Mouth Patients: Peri-operative and critically ill patients who cannot take oral medication.

Stress Ulcer Prophylaxis: Prevention of stress-related mucosal damage in high-risk inpatients.

Severe Reflux Oesophagitis: Where rapid onset of acid suppression is required prior to switching to oral therapy.

Dosage & Administration

Dosage and administration should be as prescribed by a qualified doctor or medical professional. Do not self-medicate. Always follow your physician's instructions regarding dose, frequency and duration of treatment.

Why SOUNDRAB™ 20?

Hospital and day-care practice regularly requires acid suppression in patients who cannot swallow — after upper GI bleeds, around surgery, and in intensive care. Without an injectable presentation, prescribers loyal to the SOUNDRAB™ brand had to switch to a competitor product for the inpatient phase and then switch back on discharge.

SOUNDRAB™ 20 Injection keeps the patient within one brand across the full episode of care, from acute intravenous therapy through to oral step-down.
