Mechanism of Action

Azithromycin 250mg tablet — same 50S ribosomal binding mechanism as ZOCITH™ 100 and 200 suspensions. The 250mg tablet is used in the standard 3-day adult regimen (500mg on day 1 loading dose, then 250mg on days 2–5) for community-acquired infections. See ZOCITH™ 100 for full mechanism detail.

Indications

Community-acquired respiratory infections, skin infections, genital Chlamydia (1gm = 4 tablets single dose), atypical pneumonia, acute sinusitis, and pharyngitis in adults. The 10×6 blister (60 tablets per box) is the standard commercial pack for prescribers writing 6-tablet (500mg day 1 + 250mg days 2-5) or 3-tablet (250mg single daily dose ×3 days) adult courses.
