Mechanism of Action
Aspirin irreversibly blocks COX-1 to prevent thromboxane A2-mediated platelet aggregation. Clopidogrel blocks ADP-mediated platelet activation through P2Y12 receptor antagonism. Dual antiplatelet therapy provides more effective clot prevention than either agent alone.
Indications
Post-ACS, post-stenting, TIA/stroke prevention, peripheral arterial disease, high clotting risk.
